Impact of Pharmaceutical Compounds in the Bioremediation of Municipal Biosolids by the White-Rot-Fungi Trametes hirsuta

The potential of microorganisms for the treatment municipal biosolids is continuously growing. present studies evaluated potency Trametes hirsuta reduction in biosolid mass, production extracellular enzymes, and removal pharmaceutical compounds (PhACs) slurry presence absence spiked PhACs [5 non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIs) 2 psychoactive (PACs)]. Toxicity after 35 days fungal was also assessed. Results showed that growth T. limited above 25% wholly inhibited 50% slurry. At 12% concentration, mass reduced by 90%, NSAIs were entirely removed, but PACs' only ~20%. Increasing content to did not markedly affect significantly enhanced PACs (>50%). both induced oxidative enzymes. In slurry, measured ABTS assay (O ) reached 5,000 mM O PhACs, 2,500 without as compared 1,200 control culture. Finally, we report white rot fungi (WRF) decreased toxicity biosolids.
